With over 7,000 shows under his belt the Amazing A.J. has performed in almost every venue imaginable and for every type of audience.  Multi-talented and diversely experienced, the Amazing A.J. has been delighting audiences live on stage for over 30 years.  Conventions, banquets, fairs, churches, libraries, schools, birthday parties, parades, and professional ball games, he’s done them all.

In 1969 he began his career in entertainment at the Astroworld theme park in Houston, Texas, doing street magic while strolling around the park and performing 3 comedy magic shows daily.  He also demonstrated and sold magic for The Fun Shop, Inc. for a number of years.  

The Amazing A.J. was the house DJ at Uncle Sam’s Club and other discos in the 70’s and spent two years as an on-air radio personality with KAYC/KAYDfm and KJET/KWICfm in Beaumont, Texas.  He has on-camera experience as an actor in commercials and print ads and voice-acting in radio commercials and voice-overs.  

Pappas Restaurants trusted him and hired him as their house entertainer for over four years in the early 80’s and even had him perform at their Pappas family private parties.  He was also featured at the Petroleum Club for many years performing for their members and guests at holiday parties.    

McDonald's Restaurants considered A.J. trustworthy enough to contract him to act as their Public Relations Representative for 21 years. He is thus corporately trained and experienced in public relations, stage presentation, media relations, ethics and even sexual harassment.  

At the age of 16 he was asked to perform for the pediatric wing of M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. There he realized he had a unique opportunity to help patients forget about their plight for a while and laugh and smile for a change, thereby helping in the healing process. Sometimes his shows were the last time a patient would smile. After that he became a regular at M.D. Anderson and began volunteering at other children’s hospitals and wards in the Houston area, cheering up patients with his magic and comedy. 

The Amazing A.J. has regularly entertained at Texas Children’s Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Institute, Hermann Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital, The Shriner’s Hospitals both in Houston and Galveston and the Ronald McDonald Houses in the Houston area.  He is uniquely qualified in how to visit a hospital room and in hospital protocol for entertainers.  

For ten years he taught and trained the clowns for Houston’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  He has narrated for and performed with the Houston Symphony in over 100 concerts.  First Lady Barbara Bush, Actress Lisa Hartman-Black, Skater Dorothy Hamil, and boxers Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali are some of the celebrities he’s entertained one on one.  

The Amazing A.J. is a member of The Society of American Magicians and the Texas Association of Magicians. He continues his magic and performance education by regularly attending their conventions and the World Magic Seminar held in Las Vegas each year.
